Three Yellow Jackets Qualify For NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three Georgia Tech track and field triple jumpers in Jonathan Gardner, Jhanelle McLeod and Julienne McKee finished in the top 12 Saturday at the NCAA East Preliminaries at Irwin Belk Track inside Aggie Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T to qualify for the NCAA Championships set for June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.

McLeod, who set the Georgia Tech triple jump record earlier this season, took third in the event with a distance of 12.98m (42-07).

McKee qualified for her second trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a distance of 12.74m (41-9.75) and ninth place. Last season, McKee advanced to the National meet in the triple and long jumps.

Gardner placed 11th in the triple jump with a leap of 15.36m (50-4.75) to punch his ticket to the NCAA Championships.

The three jumpers join Brandon Lasater (800 meters) to round out Tech’s qualifiers.
