Men’s 4×400 Relay Team Finishes Fifth
BOISE, Idaho (June 6) — Georgia Tech’s women’s team finished 30th and the men’s team 51st, after the final team standings were posted Saturday after the completion of the 1999 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Boise State’s Bronco Track Complex.
In the final event of the competition, the Yellow Jacket men’s 4×400 relay team of Michael Johnson, Bryan Swarn, Tosin Tomori and Jonas Motiejunas finished fifth with a season-best time of 3:03.43. By placing in the top eight of a final event, the team wins all-America honors. It marked the third all-America honor for Motiejunas, who was a member of the 1994 and ’98 NCAA Outdoor 4×400 national champion teams. Johnson was also a member of last year’s NCAA title squad.
Tech’s women’s team finished 30th behind totaling nine points from senior Andria King finishing second in the 100 meter hurdles (8 points) and junior Becky Megesi taking eighth place in the 1,500 meters (one point.) The men’s team was 51st after gaining four points for taking fifth place.
