ATLANTA – After snapping a three-match winless streak with a victory over Middle Tennessee State on Sunday, the 23rd-ranked Georgia Tech men’s tennis team will seek its fourth ACC win of the year when it travels to face Clemson at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The match will be played at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center in Clemson, S.C.
The Yellow Jackets (12-6, 3-3 ACC) and Tigers (19-9, 3-2 ACC) will be meeting for the 35th time in their history, with Clemson leading the all-time series by a 22-12 margin and by a 10-5 count in matches played at Clemson. Tech did win 2002’s encounter by a 6-1 score.
Senior Roger Anderson continues to lead the Jackets in both singles and doubles competition, as he holds an 11-5 record in dual matches and a 23-6 overall mark. Anderson is ranked 26th in the latest ITA singles poll and is coming off of a three-set victory over Dan Klemetz of MTSU on Sunday by scores of 6-7 (2), 6-1, 6-1. In doubles play, he has teamed with junior Scott Schnugg to form Tech’s top doubles tandem and the duo has posted a 10-1 record in the spring and are currently ranked 19th in the nation.
Schnugg has been a successful singles competitor in his own right, posting a 13-5 dual-match record and a team-best 24-12 overall singles mark on the year. Fellow junior West Nott has been the Jackets’ most consistent singles performer in dual matches, posting a 15-3 record in the spring, to go along with a 21-9 overall ledger.
