Tech Golfers Continue to Lead at Waikoloa Intercollegiate

WAIKOLOA, HI — The Georgia Tech golf team continued its solid play in Hawaii on Thursday, increasing its lead in the event to seven shots after 36 holes. The 54-hole event is being contested at the par-72, 6594-yard King’s Course in Waikoloa, Hawaii.

The top-ranked Yellow Jackets carded a round of 3-under-par, 285 and stand at 10-under-par 281-285=566 after two rounds of play. That total gives 10 a seven-shot lead over second-place Stanford at 285-288=573.

Tech junior Troy Matteson is currently in second place, just one shot off the lead of Stanford’s Phillip Rowe. Rowe finished with the low round of the day at 67 and is at 8-under-par, 69-67=136. Matteson is just one shot back after he finished the first 36 holes at 7-under-par, 67-70=137.

The tournament will conclunde on Friday with the final 18 holes of play. Full results were not available at the time of this release and will be updated when available.
