Tech Golf Set To Open Spring At Taylor Made Invitational

ATLANTA (Feb. 14) – The second-ranked Georgia Tech golf team will open its 2001 spring schedule on Thursday by participating in the 2001 Taylor Made Invitational in Waikoloa, Hawaii. The 54-hole event will be held at the Waikoloa Kings’ and the Waikoloa Beach courses, with 18 holes being played on Thursday-Saturday, February 15-17.

The Yellow Jackets have won the event in each of the past two seasons, with Tech individuals sharing the medalist title both years. In 1999, Matt Kuchar and Carlton Forrester tied with for the crown, while last year Kuchar and Bryce Molder shared the title for the Jackets with three-day scores of 6-under-par, 208.

Tech will be led by Molder, who is currently the top-ranked player in the nation by both major polls, and leads the team and the country with a stroke average of 67.55.

Joining Molder in the Tech lineup will be fellow senior Wes Latimer, juniors Kris Mikkelsen and Matt Weibring and sophomore Troy Matteson.
