ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech softball team will raise money this week for earthquake and tsunami relief in Japan. Donations will be accepted at Wednesday night’s game against Georgia (7 p.m.) as well as over the weekend against North Carolina (April 16-17, 1 p.m.). All of the money raised will be donated to the American Red Cross.

“More than 10,000 people have lost their lives and it breaks our hearts,” said senior Kristen Adkins. “There are still thousands and thousands of people missing and every dollar we can donate will help rebuild a nation. I hope that everyone who comes to the big games at Mewborn Field this week can help us out and we can send a nice check to the American Red Cross to help out this cause.”

Volunteers will have tables set up at the Fowler Street (home plate) and 8th Street (left field) entrances to Mewborn Field for all three days to collect donations. They will also pass through the stands during the game. Admission to all Georgia Tech regular season softball games is free.
