Slayden Returns to Tech for Junior Year

Aug. 23, 2004

ATLANTA – Outfielder Jeremy Slayden has passed on an opportunity to sign a professional contract and will return to Georgia Tech for his junior season.

Slayden, who played in only nine games in 2004 before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery, was granted a medical redshirt and will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2005. An 18th round draft pick of the Oakland Athletics in June, Slayden returns to Tech with 27 home runs in 139 career games.

“We are happy to have Jeremy back for another season,” said Tech head coach Danny Hall. “We look forward to a healthy Jeremy and expect him to be a key factor in the middle of our lineup this spring.”
