ATLANTA–An all-time high 51.4 percent of Georgia Tech’s student-athletes achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the spring semester.

The average GPA for all Tech student-athletes for the semester was 2.85.

Tech’s fourth-ranked men’s golf team leads the way with a 3.47 team GPA, including three team members with perfect 4.0’s. Academic All-America Roberto Castro leads the Yellow Jacket golfers as they compete for the national title at next week’s NCAA Championships.

The sixth-ranked women’s tennis team, which won the ACC title and reached the NCAA Sweet 16, sports a 3.26 GPA, led by Academic All-District selections Kristi Miller and Kelly Anderson.

Seven of Tech’s eight women’s sports posted team grade point averages above 3.05.

A total of 27 student-athletes posted perfect 4.0 grade point averages for the spring semester.

“The academic achievement of our student-athletes is our most important mission,” said Tech Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich. “Just as they compete at the highest level in their sports, Georgia Tech student-athletes compete against the very best in the academic arena. We are extremely proud of their accomplishments, and we are committed to providing the opportunity for every student-athlete to be successful in the classroom and on the field.”
