ATLANTA–Georgia Tech defensive lineman Travis Parker will be ineligible to compete in the 2005 football season after failing to meet academic requirements.
Parker, from Hacienda Heights, Calif., would have been a fifth-year senior next fall, so he has no eligibility remaining.
“I hate that we lost Travis Parker,” said Tech head coach Chan Gailey. “He was given every opportunity to be successful in the classroom. I hate it for him as a person and for us as a football team.”
Parker was a three-year starter for the Yellow Jackets, including last fall at defensive end after moving from defensive tackle. Last season, he had 34 tackles with six tackles for loss and two sacks. In 2003, he earned honorable mention all-Atlantic Coast Conference honors with 15 tackles for loss.
