ATLANTA (Oct. 18) – Georgia Tech’s men’s tennis team concludes its fall season with the Yellow Jackets facing their toughest competition at the season at the South Carolina Invitational this weekend in Columbia, S.C.
“This will be our biggest test of the fall with the best competition we’ll see,” said Tech head coach Kenny Thorne. “This will allow us to see where we are on the national level.”
Among the players competing in the South Carolina field is defending NCAA champion Jeff Morrison of Florida.
The Jackets are coming off a successful weekend on their home court which saw junior Sergio Aguirre (Atlanta, Ga.) and freshman Roger Anderson (P ietermitzburg, South Africa) advance to the finals of their respective flights. Aguirre fell in the “A” flight finals, and Anderson won the “B” flight title.
“Sergio and Roger had solid performances,” Thorne said. “Hopefully, they can keep playing the way the have been lately, and we can see what they do against a high level of compeition.”
