Mason Tabbed First-Team All-American by USA TODAY

Dec. 11, 2014

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech senior offensive guard Shaquille Mason was named to the 2014 All-America First Team by USA TODAY on Thursday.

Mason became Georgia Tech’s first first-team All-American since defensive end Derrick Morgan in 2009. He is the 60th first-team All-American in program history and the third under head coach Paul Johnson (Michael Johnson – 2008, Derrick Morgan – 2009).

Mason, a 2013 first-team All-ACC selection, was selected second-team All-ACC by both ACSMA and the league’s head coaches in 2014. The Columbia, Tenn., native has been named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week three times this season. He has made 37 consecutive starts, the longest streak by any current Yellow Jackets.

No. 12 Georgia Tech faces No. 7 Mississippi State (10-2) in the 2014 Capital One Orange Bowl on New Year’s Eve in Miami. The game kicks at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN at Sun Life Stadium. Click here for ticket information.
