Lemons Named ACC Field Most Valuable Performer

March 6, 2007

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech senior, James Lemons II, was honored as the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Most Valuable Performer, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Lemons, a senior from Atlanta, Ga., was named MVP after impressive performances in the long jump and triple jump. Placing first in the triple jump with a leap of 51-03.75, the jumper provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship. Lemons also placed third in the long jump with a leap of 23-10.25. Georgia Tech finished the meet in fourth place with 63 points.

Lemons was the first Tech men’s track and field athlete to be named MVP of the championship meet since Brendon Mahoney garnered the honor at both the ACC Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 2004.

Senior Ashlee Kidd of the women’s team was named ACC Indoor Track Most Valuable Performer last week.

Lemons and the Georgia Tech men’s team will be back in action to begin the outdoor season on March 23-24 at the Wake Forest Open in Winston-Salem, N.C.
