Jordan Named Field MVP of ACC Indoor Championships

March 5, 2010

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech’s Alphonso Jordan was named the men’s field most valuable performer for the 2010 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, as announced by ACC Commissioner John Swofford. Jordan is Tech’s first ACC Indoor Field MVP since 2004, when Brandon Mahoney garnered the award.

Jordan was an All-ACC performer for the third time, claiming the triple jump title and placing second in two other events (60m hurdles and long jump).

Jordan measured 53 feet, 4.25 inches to win the triple jump and automatically qualify for the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship. The mark was also a new school-record, breaking a 20-year old mark.

The Charlotte, N.C., native also finished in second place in both the long jump (25-2.75) and 60-meter hurdles (7.85), and led the entire field in racking up 26 points for the seventh-place Yellow Jackets.

Jordan now sets his sights on next week’s NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. Action gets underway at the University of Arkansas on Friday, March 12th.
