Feb. 11, 2015

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech safety Isaiah Johnson and long snapper Trevor Stroebel were among the 63 student-athletes named to the 2014 All-ACC Academic Football Team.

Johnson, a native of Tyrone, Ga., is a two-time Georgia Tech graduate. He graduated in December 2013 with his bachelor’s degree in management and in December 2014 with a master’s degree in building construction. The 2012 and 2014 Team Defensive Effort Award recipient, Johnson played in 13 games with 12 starts as a redshirt senior.

After missing the 2013 season recovering from injury, he recorded 72 tackles in 2014 and finished his career with 283 tackles – the most by a Georgia Tech defensive back in school history.

Stroebel, a sophomore from Saukville, Wis., came to Georgia Tech in 2013 as a walk-on and ended up playing a significant role as a true freshman. As a sophomore in 2014, he played in all 14 games as the Jackets’ short snapper. He is a majoring in business administration.

To be eligible for consideration for the team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. All 14 ACC schools were represented by at least two selections on the team. The ACC has selected an All-ACC Academic Football team every year since 1954.

The team was chosen from a pool of 128 eligible ACC football student-athletes who were nominated by their schools.

In seven years under head coach Paul Johnson, the Yellow Jackets have produced 25 All-ACC Academic members. Georgia Tech has been represented on the All-ACC Academic Football Team for 17 consecutive years.
