ATLANTA – Georgia Tech sophomore offensive tackle Cord Howard, who has sat out the Yellow Jackets’ first two games of the season awaiting the outcome of an academic issue, has been cleared to play the remainder of 2007.
Howard has practiced with the team since preseason drills began in early August but was not cleared to play in Tech’s Sept. 1 win at Notre Dame or the Sept. 8 victory against Samford.
“We are happy to have Cord back and cleared to play,” head coach Chan Gailey said Friday morning. “We fully expect him to contribute the rest of the season.”
Howard, a Phenix City (Ala.) native, showed promise last season as a redshirt freshman. His playing time on the offensive line increased late last season as he saw action at both the guard and tackle positions.
No. 15 Georgia Tech hosts No. 21 Boston College Saturday at 8 p.m. at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
