THE FLATS – Feeling good after defeating Appalachian State, 70-57, Monday night, Georgia Tech’s basketball team brought some cheer to the Atlanta Children’s Shelter Tuesday.
Several members of the Yellow Jackets’ basketball team gathered up all the remaining presents collected on campus during the annual Michael Isenhour Toy Drive, approximately 50 large trash bags full, and delivered them, along with a monetary donation of more than $10,000, to the shelter Tuesday before practice.
The Toy Drive is named in honor of former Georgia Tech basketball letterman and Student-Athlete Advisory Board member Michael Isenhour, who died in 2002 following a battle with leukemia. Isenhour spearheaded the first Toy Drive in 2001 to help families affected by 9/11, and since then, SAAB has continued the annual project in his memory.
