TOP STORYLINES

• Georgia Tech opens its 124th football season on Saturday with an ACC matchup versus Boston College at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

• Saturday’s Aer Lingus College Football Classic is the 1,245th game in Georgia Tech history but the first to be played off of American soil.

• Although it is the first time that Georgia Tech will play outside of the United States, it is not the longest trip in program history. In 1991, Tech traveled 4,490 miles to Honolulu, Hawai’i to beat Stanford, 18-17, in the Aloha Bowl, a journey that was 569 miles longer than this week’s 3,921-mile flight across the Atlantic Ocean.

• Georgia Tech is looking to bounce back from an uncharacteristic 3-9 campaign in 2015. Sixteen Yellow Jackets combined to miss more than 80 games with injuries last season and, despite the misfortune on the injury front, six of Georgia Tech’s nine defeats came by eight points or less.

• Georgia Tech returns the majority of its offensive production from a season ago, as the players that accounted for 81 percent of its rushing yards, 84 percent of its receiving yards and 98 percent of its passing yards last season are back on the squad in 2016.

• Georgia Tech is 86-33-4 (.715) all-time in season openers, including a 7-1 mark in openers under head coach Paul Johnson.

• Fifth-year senior quarterback Justin Thomas needs only 66 passing yards to move into Georgia Tech’s all-time top 10 for career passing yardage.
