Georgia Tech 20, Maryland 7 * October 9, 2004

Georgia Tech’s 20-7 win marks the first win against Maryland in College Park since November 18, 2000 when the Jackets won 35-22.

Tech’s win over #23 Maryland marks the fourth win over a ranked foe for Head Coach Chan Gailey in three seasons. Three of the four victories have occurred on the road. Tech has defeated at least one nationally-ranked team each of the last 10 seasons.

The Jackets gave up just 81 total yards to the Terps. This is the fewest yards allowed since allowing 32 to Florida in 1963. It is the sixth fewest in school history, and the fewest ever in an ACC game.

Georgia Tech allowed just 18 yards of total offense after the first quarter, including -7 yards in the fourth quarter.

Georgia Tech allowed just seven yards rushing, marking the seventh lowest total in school history. The seven yards are allowed on the ground since January 3, 2004, in which the Jackets held Tulsa to negative 56 yards on the ground in the 2004 Humanitarian Bowl.

P.J. Daniels rushed for 91 yards on 26 carries. Daniels moved into sole possession of seventh place on the Jackets all-time career rushing list with 2,117. He is just 157 yards shy of David Sims.

The Yellow Jackets recorded five sacks in the game, led by linebacker Chris Reis who recorded 2.0 sacks for a total loss of 29 yards. Reis leads the Jackets with 4.5 sacks on the season.
