Georgia Tech Men's Tennis Begins Fall Season in Alabama

Sept. 15, 2005

The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team will open its fall schedule on Friday, competing in the Crimson Tide Fall Championships in Tuscaloosa, Ala. at the Alabama Varsity Tennis Complex.

The tournament features 18 teams and will begin Friday and continue through Sunday with both singles and doubles being played.

Among the Yellow Jackets who will be a part of the field are senior Marko Rajevac, who is currently ranked No. 9 in the ITA Doubles Poll, junior Zachary Rath and sophomores Scott Blackmon, Jordan Delass and George Gvelesiani.

“This is a great tournament for our players to take part in,” said head coach Kenny Thorne. “We had some guys attend this event last year and they all had good competition and it was a great way to start off our fall season. It’s the first tournament of the year, but our guys have worked hard this summer and practiced a lot, so now it’s time to see how well they respond in a match situation.”

Full recaps of the results from each day of the tournament will be available at www.ramblinwreck.com.
