Georgia Tech Alum Brings Home Piece of History

Oct. 30, 2014

Ryan Schneider is a 1990 Georgia Tech mechanical engineering graduate and local patent attorney, but to Yellow Jackets fans he’s the man that brought the Cumberland game ball back home to The Flats. Schneider won an online auction for the historic football marking the most lopsided game in football history, a 222-0 victory by the Jackets under head coach John Heisman on October 7, 1916.

He’ll present the ball to Georgia Tech AD Mike Bobinski and President Bud Peterson during the second quarter of Saturday’s Homecoming game vs. Virginia. The ball will be on permanent display in the Georgia Tech Athletic Association museum.

Prior to the Clemson game, Georgia Tech fans will have the opportunity to view and take pictures with the Cumberland ball during WreckFest. Details will be released the week of the game.
