Gailey Home From Hospital

March 17, 2005

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech head football coach Chan Gailey was released from Piedmont Hospital late Wednesday and is resting comfortably at home.

Gailey, 53, sustained a heart attack Monday morning and underwent an angioplasty.

“I want to say thank you for the tremendous support that I have received,” Gailey said from his home. “All the cards, letters and gifts, and especially the prayers, mean a great deal. This has been very humbling, and I’m very grateful.

“I also want to thank the doctors and medical staff, both at the Student Health Center (at Georgia Tech) and at Piedmont Hospital. We were very fortunate that everyone acted so quickly.

“I look forward to getting back to 100 percent as soon as possible.”

The Yellow Jackets will not practice Thursday as originally scheduled. Tech’s next practice is scheduled for Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at Rose Bowl Field.

Gailey will remain at home today. He hopes to be able to attend practice Friday.
