Football Visits Local Ronald McDonald House

On Monday, several members of the Georgia Tech football team and Buzz visited a local Ronald McDonald House in Atlanta to spread some holiday cheer and joy to children and families.

The Yellow Jackets spent the afternoon interacting with several children and family members staying at the charity, signed autographs and played various games with the children.

“Our team had a great time at the Ronald McDonald House,” said Trey Klock, a redshirt-sophomore offensive lineman. “It amazed me how much fun everyone was having and how positive the children were. My teammates and I are so blessed to be in the situation we’re in. I’ve had the opportunity to visit several children’s hospitals and other charities during my time as a Yellow Jacket and I’ve made lifelong friends and memories that I will never forget.”

After posing for pictures, the Yellow Jackets opened a game of cornhole with a few children, cheering on their teams to victory. Other Jackets tossed around a football, played basketball and others paired with a child for a couple video games.

“We had a blast hanging out with the kids today,” said Harrison Butker, a senior kicker on the football team. “They were a joy to be around and it gave us a much needed perspective on the blessings we’ve been given in our lives.”

Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities provides a home away from home for families of sick and injured children receiving care at local hospitals. Since 1979, Ronald McDonald Houses have been called “home” by more than 46,000 families. Tech visited the Ronald McDonald House located near Scottish Rite, which originally opened in 1994, but was rebuilt in 2015 and has served over 10,000 families since it’s opening.
