ATLANTA – Freshman Curtis Dupart had three hits and drove in all four runs to lead the Gold Team to a 4-2 victory over the White Team in the final game of the Gold & White World Series Wednesday afternoon at Russ Chandler Stadium.

Brad Rulon earned the victory for the Gold Team, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out two, while Michael Hutts pitched three innings in relief, allowing one run on one hit while striking out three. Zach Von Tersch tossed the final inning for the Gold Team to earn the save.
Dupart was 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in the game, while center fielder Chris House led the White Team with two hits in the game.
The Gold Team took an early 1-0 lead when Danny Payne walked to lead off the bottom of the first inning, advanced to second on a walk to Tony Plagman, moved to third on a fielder’s choice, and scored on a single by Dupart.
The White Team tied the score at 1-1 in the third inning when Ryan Tinkoff was issued a one-out walk, moved to third on a ground-rule double by House, and scored on a groundout by Wally Crancer.
Dupart helped the Gold Team take a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the third with a two-out three-run homerun, which scored Michael Fisher and Jay Dantzler.
Jeff Ussery helped the White Team pull within two runs in the fourth inning with a two-out solo homerun, but they would get no closer, as Hutts shut down the next seven batters he faced and Von Tersch pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning.
Ryan Turner was the tough-luck loser in game three, allowing just one earned run on four hits in three innings of work. Will Hirsch pitched the final three innings for the White Team, allowing just two hits while striking out three.
Ussery led all batters with a .667 average in the three-game series, going 6-for-9 with a double, home run, three stolen bases and three runs scored. Plagman and Dupart led the Gold Team in the Gold & White World Series, as Plagman hit .500 (4-for-8) while Dupart hit .400 (4-for-10) with two runs, including a home run, and four RBI.
The baseball team will begin its 2007 campaign in Statesboro, Ga. facing the Georgia Southern Eagles Feb. 10-11. Both games will begin at 1:30 p.m.
