CHICAGO – The Kansas City Chiefs selected cornerback DJ White in the sixth round of the NFL Draft Saturday. The McDonough, Georgia, native was a three-year starter at Georgia Tech and was elected one of the team’s permanent captains as a senior.
White, the third pick of the round and 178th overall, was the second Yellow Jacket drafted this weekend after the Denver Broncos took defensive tackle Adam Gotsis in the second round Friday night.

As part of the 2014 defensive unit that forced 29 turnovers, White intercepted four passes, including a pick-six against NC State, during his junior campaign. White is forever etched in Georgia Tech lore with his game-ending interception in overtime against Georgia that season, which culminated in an Orange Bowl victory.
White finished his collegiate career with seven interceptions, five forced fumbles and 162 tackles.
The last Georgia Tech draft pick by the Chiefs was Keyaron Fox in 2004 (3rd round, 93rd overall). White will join fellow alums Jeremiah Attaochu, Demaryius Thomas, Vance Walker and Gotsis in the AFC West.
White is the 18th NFL Draft pick under Coach Paul Johnson, including eight over the last three years. In December, White received his Georgia Tech degree in Business Administration.
