LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams placed fourth and 11th, respectively, Saturday at the 12th annual Greater Louisville Classic. Jeremy Greenwald led the Georgia Tech men and Katie Townsend finished first for the Tech women.
Greenwald led the men with a 12th-place finish with a time of 25:10. Brandon Lasater followed with a time of 25:19 for 19th place. Alec Clifford (29th; 25:33), Sidney Speir (71st; 26:10) and Jeremy Wegener (76th; 26:15) rounded out Tech’s top five.
Louisville won the men’s 8K with 53 points, followed by Tennessee (81) and East Tennessee State (175). Georgia Tech picked up 186 points with an average time of 25:42 for fourth place out of 19 teams.
Townsend finished first for the Tech women and crossed the line in a time of 18:13 to place 35th. Allison Brackin followed Townsend with a time of 18:35 and a 55th-place finish. Melissa Fairey (58th; 18:36), Kelly Meyer (64th; 18:41) and Hayley Keady (69th; 18:47) finished in the top five for the Jackets.
Kentucky and Texas A&M won the women’s 5K with 92 points and Eastern Kentucky placed second with 126 points. Georgia Tech collected 281 points and an average time of 18:34 for 11th out of 20 teams.
The Jackets are back in action Oct. 19 when the team splits up to compete at the Berry Invitational in Rome, Ga. and the Pre-National Invitational in Terra Haute, Ind.
