Chick-fil-A Bowl Week Day 5

Dec. 30, 2008

ATLANTA – Well we are finally less than 24 hours away from kick-off of the 2008 Chick-fil-A Bowl. It was a quiet morning as the players ate breakfast and were able to relax in their rooms. Coach Johnson and Les Miles held a joint press conference at the Sheraton in what would be their final media availability until after tomorrow night’s games.

At 12:30 p.m., it was time for the Texaco Scholarship Luncheon and “Chalk Talk” presented by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which was held in the Atrium Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis. The event was hosted by tomorrow’s ESPN play-by-play announcer and Duluth, Ga., resident Brad Nessler. Interim Georgia Tech President Gary Schuster was presented with the $100,000 endowed scholarship check.

Members of the Chick-fil-A Bowl Hall of Fame and the top 10 student-athletes from both schools were honored and presented with a plaque on-stage. In addition, the top 40 high school scholar-athletes and 12 student managers from the state of Georgia will be honored.

Fans submitted questions during lunch and then the coaches came up for an x’s and o’s session where Nessler asked each of them questions. Neither coach was going to give up much information, however, much to the chagrin of the other one!

Later in the afternoon, the Yellow Jackets went over to the Dome for their walk-through. The evening was all business with a team dinner followed by meetings.

Don’t forget about all of the activities coming up tomorrow leading up to the big game. There will be a parade downtown which will end up at the FanFest at the Georgia World Congress Center. Kick-off between No. 14 LSU and Georgia Tech will be 7:30 p.m. so we hope to see everyone in the Dome!
