CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Jeremy Raines, Ryan Bishop and Matt Figh all advanced to the ‘A’ finals this morning to lead the Georgia Tech men’s swimming and diving team at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships in Virginia’s Aquatic and Fitness Center. Raines tallied a sixth-place finish in the preliminaries of the 200-yard backstroke (1:47.77), while Bishop and Figh finished seventh in the 200 breaststroke (2:02.76) and 200 butterfly (1:49.18), respectively. The finals will begin at 7 p.m.
Four Yellow Jackets advanced to the finals in the 100 freestyle. Teemu Kettunen tallied a season-best time of 45.75 to lead Tech with a 13th-place finish. Ryan Riebesell (45.78), Jason Howard (45.81) and Brian Huff (46.04) all tallied season-best times and finished 14-16.
In the 200 breast, Alex Williams and Casey Arundel advanced to the finals tonight. Williams posted a season-best time of 2:03.12 to finish 10th, while Arundel finished 22nd with a season-best time of 2:12.41.
Leading the Jackets in the 200 fly was Itai Eden, Mario Montalvo and Jacob Wilson. Eden tallied a 13th-place finish with a season-best time of 1:50.84, while Montalvo finished 22nd (1:54.18) and Wilson finished 23rd (1:55.37).
Conrad Aach tallied a 19th-place finish for the Rambling Wreck in the 200 back with a season-best time of 1:52.07.
