Albertson Named ACC Golfer of the Month for April

April 30, 2013

Greensboro, N.C. – Atlantic Coast Conference individual champion Anders Albertson of Georgia Tech has been named the ACC Men’s Golfer of the Month for April.

Albertson set a tournament record with his 201 score at this past weekend’s 2013 ACC Men’s Golf Championship at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C., beating the previous mark of 202 set by Wake Forest’s Webb Simpson in 2008.

The Woodstock, Ga., sophomore’s score was the lowest 54-hole total of his career, the lowest by a Tech player since 2007, and tied for the sixth lowest in Tech history. It also marked the first time in 22 career events he has put together three rounds in the 60s. He has nine top-10 finishes in his career.

Albertson became the eighth Georgia Tech player to earn medalist honors at the ACC Championship, joining a who’s who of Tech golf that includes Paul Haley (2011), Chesson Hadley (2010), Cameron Tringale (2006), Bryce Molder (2000), Mikko Rantanen (1994), David Duval (1991, 1993), and Bob McDonnell (1985). Four of those former winners currently play on the PGA Tour and one on the Web.com Tour.

Earlier in the month, Albertson tied for sixth place at the Gary Koch Invitational in Tampa, Fla., with a 4-under 212 in a 15-team field that included six ranked teams.
